We were quite sorry to leave Dausenau as we were quite comfy there but we had spent 2 nights so it was time to move on. Lovely drive along more or less empty roads aiming for a stellplatz at Bacharach, seemingly right on the banks of the Rhine. Satnav announced that we had arrived at our destination but we think we are at a place called Oberwesel. Anyway, point is we found a great place to park, right by the side of the Rhine. We have a strip of grass at the back of the van, ideal for setting up the chairs then its an uninterupted view of the river. Its 8 euros a night to park and there doesn't seem to be a service point, we don't need anything though.
As its sunday today the shops are closed here in Germany, takes a bit of getting used to not being able to find a supermarket open. We have enough supplies to keep us going but we had only just set foot in the village on our first exploration when Lynda suggested that we find somewhere to eat. I tried to suggest we eat in the van but the lure of chips was too strong for her so the next thing you know we were sitting in a restaurants outside seating area looking at the menu, in English which was handy.
Very good meal, just simple stuff but freshly cooked and served with a smile. I had a large pizza, Lynda good old spagbol plus we had a side order of a portion of chips between us. Total with a large beer, 2 cokes and an espresso was 30 euros plus tip which was okay.
The short time in between lunch and Lynda going off to buy us an ice cream we just spent sitting watching the traffic on the river. Not everyones cup of tea of course but I found it quite interesting looking at all the different boats using the river, it was certainly quite busy. Also busy were the railway lines, one behind us and one the other side of the river.
Oberwesel, if thats where we are, is a nice town what little we saw of it. There is a castle perched up on the hill overlooking the town, I doubt we will get round to going up there but it looks good. What appears to be the remains of a defensive wall runs along the side of the railway, we had a short walk along the top and took some photos.

I know we have some stamp collectors that read this blog, here's something for the train spotters.....
You dont see sights like that coming down the Lee in Ware. I do love walking along the tow path and seeing the narrow boats though. It all looks and sounds very relaxing there and with free wi fi too thats the life love Juliex
