31st May 2018 - Buckfast Abbey

We plan to spend one more night at Churchill Farm and will be away fairly early so I went to the house to settle our bill. Not too painful at £51 for 3 nights.

We knew Buckfast Abbey was within walking distance as we passed it on our way here plus you can see the top of the tower from our pitch.

They certainly didn't make much (any) money out of us because we took a packed lunch and flasks with us. Admission to the Abbey and grounds is free so I was happy with our outlay - nil!

Once we were finished with the Abbey we walked down to what counts as Buckfast village and bought some bread, milk and a newspaper in the village shop - a shop which Lynda's phone said doesn't exist.

Bit of a slog back up the hill and along the lane to the site, worth it though.

Looks old but they only finished building the Abbey in 1938.

Gardens are not bad, loads of garden staff about getting ready for an event on 2nd June.

Lovely  view from the campsite but loads of low cloud and gloom so no good photos.

Shower block and er......

..... the toilets.
