Today started off grey and overcast but the sun soon came out and it turned out to be a beautiful day. We got a few chores done this morning, used the site laundry etc.
As the current bun had put in an appearance I decided it was about time we had a barbecue. Out came the lamb burgers, kebabs and sausages - no expense spared here. I had the food sizzling away for ages but it seems the sausages were not quite sizzled enough and were not quite cooked all the way through so they had to go in the bin!
Once we had eaten and I had taken care of the joyful task of cleaning the barbecue it was time for us to wander down to the Falconry Centre to see the 15.00 birds of prey display. The falconer on duty today was a chap by the name of Lyn who we have met before. Lyn cares a lot about his birds and is very knowledgeable. He pointed out the thermometer which showed an outside temperature of 28 degrees!
Because of the heat Lyn explained that he was not going to fly the birds much, its just too hot for them. Even so, 3 birds took part in the display and the explanations and commentary given were very interesting.
As we were so close to the rest of the park I persuaded Lynda we could walk down so I could have a quick go on the toboggan ride.
You will know Lynda puts a lot of faith in the weather app on her phone, even though it is often wrong it seems to me. Apparently its going to rain, rain, rain tomorrow so we decided we would take the gazebo down in preparation for an early getaway on Friday.
7th June.
Its about 15.30 now and rather than the continuous heavy rain predicted we have had about 6 drops! As its our last full day here at Woodlands we thought we might as well make the most of it and get the bus to Totnes. Once again I used my bus pass but Lynda had to shell out £5 (of my money) for her fare.
Being cheapskates we had sandwiches, pork pie, fruit and a flask of coffee with us so we wouldn't have to pay for anything. Bit of a dull day but we found a nice spot by the side of the River Dart to have our picnic. Our only company were several seagulls who watched us all the time in case we dropped a crumb, vicious, aggressive birds.
We had a walk along the river then looked at a few shops. While we were here I arranged to collect my prescription from a nearby branch of Boots tomorrow. Lynda changed the bikini she bought the other day then we were done and waiting for our bus back to the site. As I type this Lynda is bravely still sitting outside making the most of the fresh air.
Sorry about this, Lynda does seem to like taking selfies!
Quite a pleasant spot down by the River Dart and bridge.
Lynda tried to take a photo of Totnes on the way back on the bus.
Tomorrow we will be off to pastures new, details and photos coming soon.
