25th August 2018 - Sheringham Park

24th August

Short drive first to Cromer for an exciting visit to the Lidl store there. After that bit of fun we just relaxed for most of the day until quite late in the day when we thought we would have a walk down to Sheringham town.

My turn to do the cooking today and I managed a very nice chicken pie, yummy.

Its a special 'late night shopping' event today when some of the shops were open until an unheard of 20.00!

We had a walk round the town and a stroll along the promenade to look at the sea. The North Sea looked quite angry to us and the waves seemed to be crashing in a bit. We were watching one man who, with his young son, was standing on some steps, only running back when a wave came crashing in, must be mad.

Looking out to sea we could see the rain falling down and were concerned that it might be heading our way. We walked back, pausing only to get a portion of chips between us. We managed the walk back to our site before the rain started.

Couple of photos of our pitch / site first.

North Sea looked a bit lively to us pair of landlubbers.

25th August.

Sun is doing its best to put in an appearance today so we thought a walk in the countryside was in order. Very near our site is the National Trust property at Sheringham Park. We were glad we are members and didn't have to pay the rather high car park fee of £5.70. We got a map showing routes for walks from the shop and set off. The Park was designed by Humphry Repton and is quite charming with many good views along the way.

Our aim today is to walk to the gazebo. This is not too far, about a mile, but does involve climbing a total of 192 steps!

Really good views from the top of the gazebo which made the effort worthwhile. On our return walk we visited the temple - also an interesting structure.

Once our walk was done we thought we really deserved a hot drink and a piece of cake from the cafe, very nice.

As I type this its just gone 14.00 and Lynda is busy in the kitchen preparing breakfast bars and pizza from recipes in her cook book.

Quite a few photos of Sheringham Park.

Many viewpoints along the way, often with a sea view.

This is Sheringham Hall, not open to the public alas.

Lynda just starting on the 192 steps up to the gazebo.

Really nice 360 degree views from the top of the gazebo.

Plenty of cattle grazing, took no notice of us at all.

Another climb up the hill to the temple.
