15th July
We first visited Wimpole Hall in Cambridgeshire way back in 1982, have been here dozens of times over the years, especially when we lived nearer.
In these difficult Coronavirus times, the house itself was still closed but most of the rest of the estate was open. They have been busy making a snazzy new car park while the place was closed, a bit confusing at first as we were not sure where we were.
This was a bit of a family get together but, due to work commitments not everyone could attend. It was quite a long walk from the car park to familiar territory where we stopped for a socially distanced picnic.
Once we had eaten we headed for the folly, where we have spent many a happy hour.
The main part of the folly.
One of several large lakes we walked past.
Wimpole Hall itself, closed at the moment. Not an architectural masterpiece.
This is Bob who with his wife Sarah owns Grove Farm Nurseries.
We set up our bird feeders, not many customers though.
16th July.
We invited our friends Carl and Lina round for lunch. I got the charcoal barbecue up and running, very pleasant afternoon.
Lynda got a photo of sorts with all 4 of us in it.
18th July.
Time to move on from Grove Farm Nurseries. Our destination today was Church Farm, Corton near Lowestoft. As you can see from the photos it is quite near the sea. This is another Certificated Site and they are normally only supposed to have 5 caravans or motorhomes on site.
When we arrived there were already 5 caravans here, but they were quite well spaced out and one of the caravan owners offered to move his car to give us some extra space. The caravan owner the other side reckoned we were too near his unit so we moved well back out of his way. I would have preferred to tell him to 'foxtrot oscar' but we just moved back.
We soon had our windbreak and gazebo set up.
The caravan owner who said we were too close, notice he has a large space by the hedge then his clothes drier, caravan, awning and car!
Various buildings at Church Farm.
Not fabulous weather today but we thought we should get out and explore. As mentioned, we are not far from the sea here so we wandered in the appropriate direction and also had a look round nearby Corton.
We walked along the coast path anyway.
A nature reserve we will have a look round next time.
Although we have only been here for one night we have heard a few motorbikes in the area. They were riding up and down the cliff!
Back on site for well deserved ice creams and G and T's.
